Partners for Plants (P4P)/ The Covey is a joint habitat restoration project of the GCA Conservation and Horticulture Committees. Little Rock Garden Club adapted a version of the program for Arkansas starting in 2018 with P4P/The Covey. LRGC currently partners with Arkansas Game and Fish Commission, Arkansas Natural Heritage Commission, Audubon Arkansas, Central Arkansas Water, The Nature Conservancy and Quail Forever to restore a 12 acre open field site to its native prairie habitat. This will benefit Northern Bobwhite Quail, Monarch butterflies and pollinators, as well as other indigenous wildlife species. The restoration also ensures protection of our state’s water quality by enhancing filtration of the landscape.
LRGC members work with expert botanists and biologists to help gather and clean seeds for use in the habitat restoration.
